Sixth Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Welcome to our sixth round of Harlequin Kradam Fest! Please comment here with your prompts.

~We will accept prompts through July 5th.

~All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at harlequinkradam on July 6th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from July 6th through September 30th.

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris Allen is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to fund his own charity. He sees Adam Lambert, a struggling musician, perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly). Harlequin is a type of romance that includes everything from traditional to historical, intrigue to supernatural. If you’re not sure what we mean by the term ‘Harlequin’, check out the eHarlequin writing guidelines.

Here are several more prompts to get us started:

~Kris Allen signs up for Theater 101 because it’s the only open course that fits his schedule. It’s not long before the professor learns what Kris has always known: he sucks at acting. Kris is handed over to the not so tender mercies of TA, Adam Lambert, who teaches Kris about acting, and a whole lot more.

~Single dad Kris Allen finally bows to the inevitable and hires a nanny to help him take care of his daughter/son. Picturing the staid nanny types who suck all the fun out of life, he tells the service that he wants someone who is imaginative and artistic. When Adam Lambert first appears on his doorstep, Kris isn’t sure he’s the right man for the job, but Adam soon convinces Kris otherwise.

~When photographs of Kris Allen kissing another man are posted on-line he refuses to deny that he is gay. His record company claims breach of contract, but they give Kris a choice: either he will be banned from performing publicly for the remainder of his contract and sued for damages, or he can agree to allow them to sell his contract to Adam Lambert, a man who has made no secret of his desire for Kris.

this prompt I posted it in a previous post but didn't got claimed so hope this time it works
so here we go

Adam Lambert is a huge rock star and he gets whatever or whoever he wants. His label and management consider him their cash cow and do whatever it takes to keep him happy. Kris Allen is new to the music industry and is finding it impossible to get a record deal. Kris meets Adam at some industry event [or event of author’s choice], and Adam decides that he wants Kris.

Kris refuses Adam’s advances, which only makes Adam even more determined to have him. Adam uses his influence with his record label to get them to offer Kris a record deal if he spends a 2 week vacation with Adam, after which Adam promises to stay out of Kris’ life. Except Adam falls in love with Kris, but he can’t tell him because of their deal, while Kris falls for him too but didn't have the guts to tell him.

Will Adam take the chance and tell Kris how he feels, or will Kris beat him to the punch?

Here's a prompt that was submitted in something earlier & didn't get claimed:

Kris is a straight (at least people currently think so) up & coming music star. Unfortunately, he has little sense of style, and his PR people force him to go to ABC Skingraft Fashions, a clothing designer firm managed by three successful young designers: Adam Lambert, Brad Bell, & Cassidy Haley. Adam, Brad, and Cassidy all have a crush on the adorable Kris, and they have a friendly competition to see whose designs he likes best & which one can spend the most time assisting him in the dressing room. Kris has no idea of his sex appeal & is, at first, surprised by their attentions. He ultimately begins to enjoy their desire to help him learn to dress....

I don't think it was submitted here, not that it matters, except that the prompt doesn't isn't specifically Kris/Adam. Can you fix that? (Or I could do it, if you want me to.)

Just maybe include something at the end like, "He ultimately begins to enjoy their desire to help him learn to dress, and he finds himself seeking out Adam's advice more and more. Will he admit his attraction to himself, or will Adam have to lead him in romance, as well?"

This was on the back of a book my mom has had for years, she was a reading teacher for years and she loved this book! It was written in 1973, it's called "The Summer of My German Soldier."

"When his hometown in Arkansas, becomes the site of a camp housing German prisoners during WW II, Adam learns what it means to open his heart. Even though he's
Jewish, he begins to see a prison escapee, Kris, not as a Nazi- but as a lonely, frightened young man with feelings not unlike his own, who also understands and appreciates Adam, in a way his parents never will. And Adam is willing to risk losing family, friends and even his freedom."

I changed the names from Patty/Anton to Kradam, but that is all. It takes place in Jenkinsville, Arkansas. At first I was going to let Kris be Patty (from Arkansas) and Adam be the German soldier, but it makes more sense for Adam to be Jewish...I thought ;)

Kris is a famous singer/song writer. He is both pleased and embarrassed when he is named people's most eligible bachlor. This after he got divorced and came out as bisexual. He soon finds this is not so great when he starts getting hit on everywhere he goes... to a bar, to a resturant, to the gym even to the grocery store. He gets tired of the attention because he isn't interested in anyone except Adam Lambert (a waiter, back-up singer, sytlist, PR person..you decide). Adam is always polite but standoffish to Kris although Kris witnesses him flirting and picking up other guys. Kris ties to flirt but it gets him nowhere. Adam has decided to focus on his career instead of love so only hooks up with people he knows he won't fall for. He steers clear on anyone who is his type.

Kris is home from college looking for a summer job. He gets a call from his cousin who works security for a venue in Little Rock. Famous pop star Adam Lambert is in town for a big concert.. but one of his bus drivers fell and broke his leg. They need someone immediately to fill in for a couple of months. Kris jumps at the chance and gets the job. He ends up driving Adams bus. They travel mostly at night, when most people sleep but Adam has insomnia so he is up talking to Kris... Kris can't help but fall for Adam even though he has no intention of letting on. Adam has a high maintenance, diva boyfriend back home who makes him miserable. Will Adam realize that Kris is the one for him? Or will Kris make the first move to convince Adam to dump his boyfriend for someone more laid back?

Every since his divorce Kris Allen can't keep a PA. The problem is he's too nice and they all fall for him. Then when he tries to let them down easy because he's not interested they leave in tears. His management is fed up and wants Kris to be meaner. His last PA leaves just before a big European tour and management is in a panic.. Finally someone suggests Adam Lambert who is just finishing up a tour with Ozzie Ozborn. His next assignment is Axel Rose... but who knows when he will have his music ready. So Adam is to meet Kris in England for the tour.. Adam is professional and wonderful.. but this time it's Kris who falls in love.

~To make ends meet musician Kris Allen gives guitar and piano lessons on the side. When he meets Adam Lambert, the godfather [or uncle, etc] of one Kris’ students, Kris is tempted to make an exception. Will Kris run away from the possibilities Adam represents, or will he let himself believe in the beautiful music they could make together?

~Kris Allen had not one, but two one-night stands with Adam Lambert, which have left him feeling disillusioned and leery. When Kris and Adam meet again, with it be three strikes and you’re out, or will the third time be the charm?

~Vampire Prince Kristopher Allen must bond with his mate or forfeit succession to the throne. When Kris meets Adam Lambert he knows immediately that he’s found his mate, but there’s just one problem: Adam’s still human. Will Kris give up Adam, or the throne?

~Kris Allen is a werefox, which is really unfair, because everyone else in his family is a werewolf. No one treats him differently, but Kris feels like he doesn’t fit in. Until he meets Adam Lambert, the new Alpha for the Arkansas region.

Adam’s all sleek black and sparkly and gorgeous, so Kris should totally feel out of place, and yet he feels like he’s known Adam all his life. Adam Lambert gave up on his dream of becoming a rock star. He serves drinks to the tourists on the beach during the day, and seduces them into his bed at night. He thinks it’s enough, until he meets cute and sexy Kris Allen.

Will Kris be able to convince Adam that he should take a chance on Kris, and give his dream another shot?

~Kris Allen and Adam Lambert were once the best of friends, brought together by a common experience. Kris even thought he was in love with Adam, but time and distance have separated them. It’s been several years since Kris has even seen Adam, until someone starts killing the American Idol winners.

Adam freaks out and kidnaps Kris because he doesn’t believe that Kris will take the proper precautions on his own. Kris can call no one for help, mainly because Adam left Kris’ phone at his house so no one could trace him, but also because his family was complicit in said kidnapping.

Kris is determined to remain irritated with Adam for kidnapping him, but being with Adam 24/7 reminds Kris how much he likes Adam and enjoys hanging out with him. And just why he fell in love with him in the first place. Kris finds himself less concerned with the madman killing Idols, and more worried that he won’t be able to hide his growing feelings from Adam.

~Kris Allen has realized that he made a mistake when he left his music career behind. Now he’s mounting a comeback, and opening for Adam Lambert during his summer concert tour would be a coup, but there’s a catch: Adam wants Kris as more than his opening act.

He is expected to finish college with a degree in business and go to work for the family, learning the business from the ground up and eventually taking it over from his father. ~Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had been in love once, but that was years ago. When they meet up again Kris is determined to maintain a distance between them; Adam is equally determined to win Kris back.

~Adam Lambert’s a little tipsy when he mistakes Kris Allen for a fan and takes him home for the night [or blows him off, author choice]. Things are a bit awkward when Adam realizes that the Kris he met the night before is the same Kris Allen his band is supposed to be opening for on their upcoming tour. Can Adam convince Kris that he’s not quite the player [or jerk] he appears to be, and show him that they’re perfect for each other?

~Kris Allen wakes up in the hospital having lost his memories of the last six months of his life. The one thing he remembers is Adam Lambert, and the love they share. Adam takes Kris home from the hospital to the home they share, but things feel strange to Kris. What happens when he remembers the truth, that Adam left him for another man and has just been playing a role to help Kris get his memory back? Can Adam convince Kris that he truly loves him? Can Kris trust him?

~Kris Allen and Adam Lambert were once friends. Now they’re being forced into an arranged marriage so that Adam’s family doesn’t lose their home and standing. Kris had been in love with Adam when they were growing up, but Adam only had eyes for Bradley Bell. Kris believes that Adam is pining for his ex and only marrying Kris to help out his family. He agrees to the marriage only if they never have to share the same bed. Can Adam convince Kris that he is the one Adam loves?

~Kris Allen has moved to LA to pursue music. He works at a soup kitchen/homeless shelter [other similar place of author’s choice] during the day, and plays coffee houses, open mic nights and bars at night. Adam Lambert has had enough of so-called Christian do-gooders telling him he’s going to hell, so he wants nothing to do with seemingly goody-two-shoes Kris Allen who takes up residence in his apartment complex. Until he sees him playing at a bar one night. Will Kris and Adam be able to overcome their differences long enough to discover all the things they have in common? [based loosely on the movie “Latter Days”]

~Kris Allen won American Idol, but several years down the line he’s barely a blip on the musical scene radar. He ditches his old management company and hires one that actually wants to get his name back out there. What Kris didn’t realize was that they thought another reality show was the way to do that.

Stuck in a Big Brother-esque house for three months, Kris is glad that he actually likes his roommate, Adam Lambert. He’s less pleased when he realizes that he’s falling for Adam. (Who wants to fall in love on national television in front of millions of viewers?) What happens when Kris and Adam are the last two standing? And even more importantly, what will Kris do when he realizes that Adam feels the same way?

Kris decided to go into law at a young age after he witnessed a man kill his girlfriend and had to testify, so he saw the way the system worked up close. He spent five years in the prosecutor’s office, but one too many deals or rushed cases where a conviction was more important than justice broke his spirit. Now he’s working for the other side.

Adam Lambert, Suspected Murderer

Adam is charged with killing his ex-boyfriend, Bradley Bell, even though he insists that they remained best friends and there was no jealousy over the fact that Bell had moved on. Adam claims that he’s innocent, and Kris believes him. He’s just not sure he can prove it.

The Complication: Kris is falling in love with Adam.

It’s difficult *not* to fall for Adam, especially when Adam is cute, and funny, and insists on kissing Kris every chance he gets, but Kris is determined to concentrate on the case so that Adam doesn’t spend the rest of his life behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit. Can Kris keep Adam out of jail, and not lose his heart in the process?
