First Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Comment here with your prompts for our first Harlequin Kradam Fest.

We will accept prompts through July 5th.

All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at harlequinkradam on July 6th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from July 6th through Sept 14th.

You may submit general prompts or more specific scenarios. You may submit blurbs off the back of Harlequin romance novels, or scenarios you’ve made up yourself, or mix ‘em up.

For example:

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to make the world a better place; he sees Adam perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly).

Here are several prompts to get us started:

Adam Lambert has been invited to his ex’s wedding. Because he refuses to let the cheating bastard think he cares, Adam replies as plus one. The only problem is that he isn’t currently seeing anyone, and there’s no way he’s showing up without a date. Kris Allen appears to be the answer to Adam’s problem, except when the time comes for their fake relationship to end, will Adam be able to let him go?

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had been in love once, but that was years ago. When they meet up again Kris is determined to maintain a distance between them; Adam is equally determined to win Kris back.

Unable to make it on his music alone, Kris Allen takes a job as a personal assistant to the flamboyant, charismatic and infuriating glamrocker Adam Lambert. Working for Adam becomes a challenge in more ways than one when Kris finds himself attracted to the other man.

Kris Allen agrees to participate in a charity bachelor auction because it’s for a good cause, but eyebrows are raised when the infamous Adam Lambert bids on him. When Adam wins the bidding, though, Kris is less concerned with his reputation and more with his virtue.

To be honest, Kris couldn't blame 19E and the rest of his management for his current predicament. If he hadn't found famous performer Adam Lambert in his secluded Ozark cottage, Kris never would have fallen in love with Adam. But it was his label and management who was forcing him to stay in a loveless marriage. And it was his agent who led Adam to believe that Kris was happily married and a leech looking to grab onto someone famous in order to further his own career. I'm a librarian and my library is currently having a display of romance novels (some Harlequins, too!) and I love reading the blurbs, they're so funny. There's always some sort of Earl or Lord or Marquis, it's awesome.

OMFG, that last one - SATAN'S MASTER. Best title ever.

These are so much fun. "The Trophy Husband" confuses me though...what is "the price" exactly? Like he insists on marrying Kris because it's the ~honorable thing to do? And why does he have to do anything at all, if he's just helping Kris get over his breakup? Lol, so confused?

The Trophy Husband has the worst plot and the blurb doesn't do much for it, lol. IIRC the basic idea is that Hero has always been in love with Heroine but has hidden it until the betrayal. He agrees to help her make her ex jealous because he is (of course) rich, handsome, etc. and Heroine can accept his terms - marriage or money (because he feels like he needs to "buy" her favors, lol). However, the whole bit on the Heroine always being taken with the Hero is not exactly true. It's played as "oh, he wants me, I've always loved him... except for when I was true to my fiance." Very strange book.

Satan's Master has the most convoluted relationships ever. Hero is dating an older divorcée and the Heroine is being rushed into a marriage with her father's business partner. Ends up that the divorce and business partner were once married and still in love with each other. Total lulz. And Satan? Satan is the cat. I COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP.

That plot sounds just...confusing. Maybe if Hero and Heroine had previously dated and broken up, then years later she's dumped by her fiance and Hero comes back to pick up the pieces, that would make more sense? Because Hero has obviously never gotten over her, and Heroine obviously was only getting married to get over Hero, but they're both too proud to admit it so they go through this whole game with each other.
