Third Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Comment here with your prompts for our third Harlequin Kradam Fest.

We will accept prompts through July 5th.

All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at harlequinkradam on July 6th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from July 6th through September 30th.

You may submit:

~general prompts or more specific scenarios;

For example:

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris Allen is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to fund his own charity. He sees Adam Lambert, a struggling musician, perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

~blurbs off the back of Harlequin romance novels, or blurbs from the back of DVD cases, or scenarios you’ve made up yourself, or mix ‘em up; and

~prompts from the last round (just c&p them into a comment here), whether they were claimed and filled or not.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly). Harlequin is a type of romance that includes everything from traditional to historical, intrigue to supernatural. If you’re not sure what we mean by the term ‘Harlequin’, check out the eHarlequin writing guidelines.

~Kris Allen signs up for Theater 101 because it’s the only open course that fits his schedule. It’s not long before the professor learns what Kris has always known: he sucks at acting. Kris is handed over to the not so tender mercies of TA, Adam Lambert, who teaches Kris about acting, and a whole lot more.

~Single dad Kris Allen finally bows to the inevitable and hires a nanny to help him take care of his daughter/son. Picturing the staid nanny types who suck all the fun out of life, he tells the service that he wants someone who is imaginative and artistic. When Adam Lambert first appears on his doorstep, Kris isn’t sure he’s the right man for the job, but Adam soon convinces Kris otherwise.

~When photographs of Kris Allen kissing another man are posted on-line he refuses to deny that he is gay. His record company claims breach of contract, but they give Kris a choice: either he will be banned from performing publicly for the remainder of his contract and sued for damages, or he can agree to allow them to sell his contract to Adam Lambert, a man who has made no secret of his desire for Kris.

~Kris Allen, fresh off a world tour, is suffering from exhaustion. His management sends him on a tropical vacation for a month. Kris thinks a month on his own is going to suck, until he meets the gorgeous bartender.

Adam Lambert gave up on his dream of becoming a rock star. He serves drinks to the tourists on the beach during the day, and seduces them into his bed at night. He thinks it’s enough, until he meets cute and sexy Kris Allen.

Will Kris be able to convince Adam that he should take a chance on Kris, and give his dream another shot?

Kris himself! Hs little joke backfired, however. It wasn't too long before Kris began fervently wishing their mock engagement was a real one. ~Kris Allen’s first love was music, but when he was drafted by [baseball franchise of your choice] right out of high school, he figured it was too good an opportunity to pass up, so he packed his guitar, along with his favorite glove and bat, and headed to [wherever their triple A team plays].

Kris is doing pretty well. Even though he’s a bit homesick, he gets along with most of the guys on the team, and he’s even heard rumors that he might be sent up to the majors if they need a back up [catcher], just to give him some experience at that level. He misses playing with his dad, and his friends, but he’s got his guitar and his roommate doesn’t care if he plays it in their room, so Kris figures he’s doing alright.

Until he walks into a club he’d never been in before and meets Adam Lambert. Adam has a voice like an angel (or the devil, Kris thinks, because it makes him want to do very naughty things to the other man), and he’s gorgeous to boot. Just when Kris believes he’s chosen the path his life is going to take, Adam comes along and makes him rethink that.

Farmhands!Kradam. Adam moves to the western/southwestern state of your choice and ends up working as a farmhand, where he meets Kris, another farmhand who comes from a long line of ranchers. He even wears those cotton plaid western shirts with the pearl snaps. He's a perfect singing cowboy, and Adam takes one look and falls in lust. The two of them have a secret romance that involves pretending to not be looking at each other while working together all day, then sharing a ride home together at night - to separate houses, but sometimes it's just so much easier to sleep over!

Mostly I want Adam in faded Wranglers and a black cowboy hat, Kris with his thin cotton shirt clinging to his sweaty skin, and hot sex in the barn, haystack optional. Warm nights on Kris's front porch (with a swing, of course), looking at the stars while Kris plays his guitar would be lovely.

Reposting this prompt from round 2 by birddi. I'd like to finish my fic in time for round 3. YAY!

Kris is looking for a job, and finds one as a keyboardist on a tour with a group of three singers/drag queens. He finds himself helping out the 'girls' (who are a foot taller than him, and more muscled, and stronger to boot!) by carrying their bags, finding their costumes, getting the gas, etc. The 'girls' love their little southern sidekick... although, they aren't too sure if Kris knows they're not female (he keeps opening doors!).

~Kris Allen’s band won a contest to open for famous singer Adam Lambert when his tour stopped in Little Rock. Problem was, Kris didn’t remember entering the contest, nor did he want to see Adam again.

Adam Lambert hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Kris since the day he left for LA to make it big. He’s decided that he wants Kris back, and he’s not above doing something underhanded if that means he gets to have Kris back in his life.

Kris Allen is the new caretaker in Adam Lambert's Manor. One day he finds an unmarked videotape hidden away. Unable to resist temptation, Kris watches the tape and sees Adam, his much fantasized about boss, with another man. Adam discovers a turned on Kris watching the tape and encourages him, eventually joining in and giving Kris a lot more than what was on the tape. Now that Adam’s had a taste of what he wanted all along, he’s determined to keep Kris in his bed.

~Rock star Adam Lambert needs a break. Lane once mentioned a volunteer group she worked with in the past, and told him how rewarding it was. Adam remembers that conversation when he’s thinking about places to hide out and recharge his batteries, so he has Lane sign him up.

Adam wonders if he’s gotten more than he’d bargained for – Haiti [or place of your choice] is hotter than he’d imagined (his make-up *melts* off his face), and he’d take a shower twice a day if his tent (or the camp it was in) had running water – but then Adam meets the man in charge of the group of volunteers Adam is a part of.

Kris Allen is no stranger to helping others; he’s been on several mission trips since starting college. This time, though, Kris needed to get away so he could think; it’s time to decide whether he wants to keep on playing music in bars and producing his own records that sell about 10 copies, or if he wants to get married and finish college.

Kris thinks that there’s only one path to follow; the same path his father took. He’d given his music a chance, now it was time to be an adult, grow up. But then Adam Lambert shows up in his little group of volunteers, and shows Kris that there’s another path. Will Kris be brave enough to walk the path that leads to happiness in Adam’s arms?

~Adam Lambert thinks the new librarian is the cutest thing he’s ever seen. Bonus, he’s got a southern accent! Then he discovers a side of Kris he’d never seen when he walks into one of his favorite bars and sees Kris on stage with a guitar in his hands. Adam finds it very difficult to concentrate on books and research and cataloguing when all he can think about is the way Kris moved on stage.

Kris Allen, librarian by day, musician by night. He thinks that Adam is sweet and gorgeous and way out of his league, until the night Adam seduces Kris in the poetry stacks. At first Kris believes that Adam just wanted a one-night stand, another notch in his already well-notched belt, but Adam won’t leave him alone, and he gets this look on his face when anyone else stands really close to Kris.

Adam decides he wants to make an honest man out of Kris, but will Kris let himself believe in happily ever after?

~Kris Allen is a witch. His mother runs an herbal shop in their little town, and she’s taught Kris all the recipes and spells she knows. Kris is competent at mixing ingredients, but he excels at singing the spells to life. Adam Lambert is a reporter looking for the story of a lifetime. He’s smitten with Kris from the moment he walks into Kim Allen’s herbal shop, but he’s a man on a mission and doesn’t have time for romance.

When Adam discovers Kris’ secret, will he tell it to the world, or are his growing feelings for Kris more important than his by-line?

~Kris Allen is a werefox, which is really unfair, because everyone else in his family is a werewolf. No one treats him differently, but Kris feels like he doesn’t fit in. Until he meets Adam Lambert, the new Alpha for the Arkansas region.

Adam’s all sleek black and sparkly and gorgeous, so Kris should totally feel out of place, and yet he feels like he’s known Adam all his life. Kris has never gotten along with anyone so well, and he’s feeling comfortable in their friendship until Adam informs Kris that he plans on making Kris his mate, despite Kris’ objections that a werefox and a werewolf can’t be a mated pair.

Can Adam prove to Kris that the ways their similar matter more than the ways in which their different, and make him believe that love really does conquer all?
