First Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Comment here with your prompts for our first Harlequin Kradam Fest.

We will accept prompts through July 5th.

All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at [livejournal.com profile] harlequinkradam on July 6th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from July 6th through Sept 14th.

You may submit general prompts or more specific scenarios. You may submit blurbs off the back of Harlequin romance novels, or scenarios you’ve made up yourself, or mix ‘em up.

For example:

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to make the world a better place; he sees Adam perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly).

For more information about the Fest please read the rules on the community profile. If your question isn’t answered there you may ask us here at the Q&A post.

Here are several prompts to get us started:

Adam Lambert has been invited to his ex’s wedding. Because he refuses to let the cheating bastard think he cares, Adam replies as plus one. The only problem is that he isn’t currently seeing anyone, and there’s no way he’s showing up without a date. Kris Allen appears to be the answer to Adam’s problem, except when the time comes for their fake relationship to end, will Adam be able to let him go?

~*~

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had been in love once, but that was years ago. When they meet up again Kris is determined to maintain a distance between them; Adam is equally determined to win Kris back.

~*~

Unable to make it on his music alone, Kris Allen takes a job as a personal assistant to the flamboyant, charismatic and infuriating glamrocker Adam Lambert. Working for Adam becomes a challenge in more ways than one when Kris finds himself attracted to the other man.

~*~

Kris Allen agrees to participate in a charity bachelor auction because it’s for a good cause, but eyebrows are raised when the infamous Adam Lambert bids on him. When Adam wins the bidding, though, Kris is less concerned with his reputation and more with his virtue.

Now submit yours! *g*

Adam Lambert's world was turned upside down the morning he shot his best friend. Disowned from his family, he leaves England, becoming a mercenary to survive. Thirteen years later, an unexpected face from his past shows up on his doorstep. Kris Allen brings with him a tale of how his brother and sister-in-law are trying to kill his father.
But Adam swore never to return to England. When Kris meets his outrageous monetary demands, Adam agrees, posing as Kris's husband in order to facilitate his return to society. When Adam learns that he cannot afford to pay his fee, he suggests a scandalous trade.
As Adam and Kris work together to figure out what is going on at his father's estate, a fierce passion blooms that neither of them anticipated and neither can resist.
---
Journey from England to Scotland to wed a highlander, Lord Kris was resigned to the arranged match. But when a band of fierce, painted warriors captured him en route, he fearlessly met their demand to marry their leader - the quick-tempered laird Adam Lambert. He couldn't know that her capture was merely the first act of vengeance against her betrothed, Adam's sworn enemy....Nor could he deny that she had once proposed to Lambert years ago, as a child charmed by his dazzling, unexpected smile. Now, Kris is caught in the crossfire of a furious clan war - with the gallant hero he has come to love at its fiery center.
--
After their arranged marriage, Adam Lambert forgot about his husband, Kris Allen, the young heir to an empire in Boston, leaving for England to resume his usual lifestyle of fine things.
But now Kris is at his door, a sophisticated young man. Adam can't keep his eyes off Kris, but Kris has other ideas. An annulment. Convincing Kris to stay is difficult, especially once someone frames Adam for murder.
--
When Adam's father threatens to take over his half of the company if he doesn't marry by his thirtieth birthday, Adam does the only thing he can think of.
He marries Kris Allen, the struggling musician he found on the street corner.
Confused, poor and hungry, Kris doesn't know what to do beside say yes when Adam offers to pay Kris to marry him. Adam is Kris's dream man, but even the money Adam offers him almost isn't enough to cover his lack of compassion for other humans.
But even with is poor social skills, Kris can't help but slowly start to fall in love with the man.

Seventeen years ago, Kris and Adam fell out and haven't spoken since. However, when Adam's son and Kris and Katy's daughter fall in love, they know that the only way to avoid a tragic Shakespearean ending is to get their dads to settle their differences.

Little do the kids know that the reason their dads don't get along isn't because of what they did but what they didn't do back when they had the chance.

Kris Allen is a rich,young bachelor, a scion of a dynasty, upstanding and altruistic, much pursued but apparently not easily satisfied. Kris' Grandfather - a man Kris adores - has learned the hard way what really matters in life - and in his last years of life he (grandpa) is enjoying them to the fullest. And in that process has struck up an unusual friendship with a certain vivid free spirited young man called Adam. When his grandfather dies of old age, it turns out that grandpa has left something for this person "Adam" in his will.

Adam is asked by grandpas lawyers to come down to the Allen family mansion for the reading of the will. This is the first time Kris Allen has actually met Adam Lambert and from the get go he is highly prejudiced against him seeing him as a gold digger who had preyed upon an old man's feelings with his "obvious seductive charms" for which Kris apparently has nothing but contempt. After a fiery encounter, where Kris doesnt hold back his accusations both men cant wait to never see each other again (but really they are suppressing)

But it turns out Grandpa has left half of a beautiful lakehouse - which Kris has loved since he was a child - to Adam! The other half goes to Kris. Kris is shocked beyond, and outraged. Adam who is our Adam Lambert and just a loving spirit is befuddled and confused since he didnt want anything for his friendship. Worse even, Grandpa has left a condition, if Adam and Kris dont travel up to the lakehouse within 30 days, and follow his mysterious instructions, at the house it will be given to charity.

Kris is forced to swallow his bile and ask Adam to travel up with him to the lakehouse. Kris plan is to follow whatever crazy instructions his mad grandpas has left, and then when the house belongs to both of them to buy Adam's half of the house from him - price no object.

Adam is hurt that anyone can think so badly of him and the last thing he wants to do is spend time with this uppity bastard, even if he is frustratingly gorgeous and exactly adam's type. But he loved Kris grandpa so for the sake of his memory he agrees to travel up with Kris.

Shenanigans and fireworks and Love ensues.

Moral: grandpa always knew best, the old wizard

I'm not really sure if you're asking for grammatical clarification or taking Katy out of the equation (ha ha), but I'm going to answer on the grammatical end.

No. :)

If you're trying to write about possession and you have two subjects, you have to decide if the two people possess something together or separately. Here's an example: Steve and Amy's religious beliefs.
The rule is if the two people share something, you use one apostrophe s. So if Steve and Amy have the same religious beliefs, it is correct to say Steve and Amy's beliefs with only one apostrophe s after the last noun.

http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/grammar-compound-possession.aspx

Kris and Katy had the daughter together; Kris and Katy's daughter. :)

p.s. I will also happily dig up my meta on Kris' vs. Kris's if you're interested. (I'm pro the latter.)

Adam, a rock star, had grown used to Kris, his guitarist and best friend; his constant presence and sometimes the weight his body lent the other side of the bed. After all this time of being friends, Adam had began to take for granted Kris' inevitable place in his life. It never occurred to him that it could be temporary, like the others. Kris was simply there, that was all there was to it. But now Kris is getting married and that's all changing. Now Adam is racing against time to stop this wedding.

These are from actual Harlequins (lol, my collection) and nothing is changed except the name and any heteronormative details.

When Kris caught his fiancée being unfaithful with his cousin, he felt doubly betrayed. Almost miraculously, Adam Lambert was on hand to help Kris pick up the pieces. However, having worked for Adam for some time now, Kris knew Adam never did anything with expecting something in return. So why was he surprised when Adam revealed that he was prepared to pay the cost of having Kris— be it an exclusive relationship or money? Kris wanted Adam so badly, he would have given himself to Adam with no strings attached. But in order to win Adam, Kris would have to play his boss' game and choose his price... [The Trophy Husband (http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373118359-The+Trophy+Husband+95+Harlequin+Presents+No+1835)]

Kris' arrival in Los Angles was daunting. He'd been so delighted with the chance at a film role that his reception on the sound stage was a shock. Adam Lambert, the director, seemed convinced that Kris had landed the part by means other than his acting ability. Even worse, he doubted Kris' honesty! Initially, all Kris wanted was his approval of his acting. Then it became vital to have Adam respect him as a colleague and peer. For, foolishly, Kris found himself in love with a man who despised him! [Set the Stars on Fire (http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373103898-Set+The+Stars+on+Fire+Harlequin+Presents)]

When Adam Lambert discovered the true identity of of Kris Allen, the "dreamy" man he had started seeing, he was furious. Kris had deliberately misled Adam! But Adam found he couldn't resist the power of Kris' charms for long. And Kris was intensely honest about his own attraction to Adam. Then Adam realized just how foolish he had been to let himself get involved with Kris Allen. Handling his jealous temper was one difficulty. But suspecting that Kris was a married man set matters in an entirely different dimension! [Brand of Possession (http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373104062-Brand+of+Possession+Harlequin+Presents+406)]

Kris had never met a man like Adam Lambert, so worldly, so handsome, so... passionate. And for Adam, it had been love at first sight — or so he claimed. But when Kris' family objected to Kris choosing Adam (over his on-again, off-again girlfriend), he rebelled. Kris was an adult, fully capable of making his own decisions, he shouted at his family on that final night. Within a week, Kris was committed to Adam and living in his Los Angeles home. The relationship started out fine — until [guy of your choice] appeared on the scene, and told Kris a few things about Adam... [Dark Awakening (http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373107339-Dark+Awakening+Harlequin+Presents+733)]

To be honest, Kris couldn't blame 19E and the rest of his management for his current predicament. If he hadn't found famous performer Adam Lambert in his secluded Ozark cottage, Kris never would have fallen in love with Adam. But it was his label and management who was forcing him to stay in a loveless marriage. And it was his agent who led Adam to believe that Kris was happily married and a leech looking to grab onto someone famous in order to further his own career. Kris could fight 19E, but he could never erase Adam's contempt for him. [Satan's Master (http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373104529-Satans+Master+Harlequin+Presents+No+452)]

Heh, IKR? early 1980s Harlequins are hilarious. The blurbs alone are so melodramatic that it's embarrassing.

A great house. A family dispossessed. A sensitive young man. A powerful landowner. An epic love that springs up between two men. Set in the post-Napoleonic years of the 1820's, this is a tale of two men - one man discovering his sexuality and the other struggling to overcome his traumatic past. Kris Allen, a studious and fragile young man, has dreams of regaining the great house his grandfather lost in a card game. When Adam Lambert returns from the continent to claim the estate, their meeting sets them on a path of desire and betrayal which threatens to tear both of their worlds apart.
Adam hires Kris as a tutor for his young, motherless son. Lovers from Adam's past appear, and may want revenge on Kris for stealing Adam's heart.

~~~~~
An officer, a gentleman...and a sodomite. The first two earn honor and respect. The third, a noose. Even as he falls in love with his shipmate, Adam Lambert realizes it is a hopeless passion. Not only is Kris Allen the son of a minister, his first act aboard ship was to call out and shoot an older midshipman who made offensive advances. Adam realizes that Kris would probably not shoot him if he expressed his feelings, but their affectionate friendship would surely end, once Kris learned of Adam's "unnatural" yearnings. Kris Allen has never given much thought to any feelings beyond duty, loyalty, and honor. For a young Englishman in 1796, the Navy is a way to move beyond his humble origins and seek a chance at greatness. Captured by accident when their Captain is abducted, Kris and Adam become pawns in a renegade pirate's sadistic game. To protect the man he loves, Adam Lambert compromises himself-trading his honor and his body for Kris' safety. When Adam learns of his friend's sacrifice, he also discovers that what he feels for Kris is stronger and deeper than friendship. The first challenge: escape their prison. The second: find a way to preserve their love without losing their lives.
In 1814, the River Thames froze solid in one of the coldest winters on record; tradesmen and society all flocked to the Frost Fair - the last ever to be held on the ice. Against this chilly backdrop, the printer, engraver and fiercely independent Kris Allen struggles; not only to keep his business afloat, selling his body to men when he must, but also to hide his growing attraction to a wealthy customer: the gentleman Adam Lambert. Lambert is a man out of Kris' class and very much out of his reach. When disaster strikes, Kris is forced to make a decision which will affect his future: will he choose love, or independence? The tale evokes a bitterly cold London winter as Kris tries to find the heat of love in his heart and his life.
Small-town elementary schoolteacher Kris Allen- gorgeous and sweet-had fallen for a crook while on a cruise, without a clue who he really was. Now he was home, waiting for his prince, and secret agent Adam Lambert's task was to track her every move.
Watching a gorgeous brunet all day? No problem. But in small-town Arkansas, hiding was impossible, and he and Kris became friends. Keeping the truth from this kind, pretty man was getting harder. Then a kiss-a passionate one-complicated things even more.
He would still protect him. The question was, from whom?
Adam Lambert has had a change in circumstances. Going from being a gentleman of few means to being a wealthy land owner in less than a day is difficult enough to imagine, but being blackmailed into a marriage he doesn't want by a Duke is just too much. Adam agrees to the marriage to keep his name out of the scandal sheets, and soon enough he is meeting Lady Jane, a member of the Duke's family, and her son, Kristopher, the Viscount Allen. Allen is a delightful surprise for Adam, a young man just coming into his own, ripe for the sorts of debauchery Adam is best at. The problem is that Allen brings out all of Adam's protective instincts, and that, along with a warning that the Duke will ruin him if he so much as lays a hand on the young man has him keeping his hands to himself. Until Kristopher won't let Adam protect him from himself, that is. Add one of Adam's old lovers to the mix and the combination is unbeatable.
