Second Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Comment here with your prompts for our second Harlequin Kradam Fest.

We will accept prompts through January 4th.

All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at harlequinkradam on January 5th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from January 5th through March 31st.

You may submit:

~general prompts or more specific scenarios;

For example:

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris Allen is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to fund his own charity. He sees Adam Lambert, a struggling musician, perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

~blurbs off the back of Harlequin romance novels, or blurbs from the back of DVD cases, or scenarios you’ve made up yourself, or mix ‘em up; and

~prompts from the last round (just c&p them into a comment here), whether they were claimed and filled or not.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly). Harlequin is a type of romance that includes everything from traditional to historical, intrigue to supernatural. If you’re not sure what we mean by the term ‘Harlequin’, check out the eHarlequin writing guidelines.

Here are several more prompts to get us started:

~Kris Allen signs up for Theater 101 because it’s the only open course that fits his schedule. It’s not long before the professor learns what Kris has always known: he sucks at acting. Kris is handed over to the not so tender mercies of TA, Adam Lambert, who teaches Kris about acting, and a whole lot more.

~Single dad Kris Allen finally bows to the inevitable and hires a nanny to help him take care of his daughter/son. Picturing the staid nanny types who suck all the fun out of life, he tells the service that he wants someone who is imaginative and artistic. When Adam Lambert first appears on his doorstep, Kris isn’t sure he’s the right man for the job, but Adam soon convinces Kris otherwise.

~When photographs of Kris Allen kissing another man are posted on-line he refuses to deny that he is gay. His record company claims breach of contract, but they give Kris a choice: either he will be banned from performing publicly for the remainder of his contract and sued for damages, or he can agree to allow them to sell his contract to Adam Lambert, a man who has made no secret of his desire for Kris.

~Kris Allen is forced to approach Adam Lambert, King of the Vampires in Los Angeles, California to request a favor. Adam, attracted to Kris, grants the favor on the condition that Kris spend one night with him. Kris agrees and earns the favor, but Adam is unable to stop thinking about him after their single night of passion. Adam determines to find him and make Kris his . . . permanently.

Adam quietly enters the room to see Kris extremely turned on. Adam encourages Kris, eventually joining in, giving Kris a lot more than what was on the tape, which is what Adam wanted all along.

1. Kris Allen is looking for the son his college girlfried Katy put up for adoption without his permission. Kris discovers accidently that Rock Star Adam Lambert has custody of his son. Adam's friend Danielle and her husband adopted Kris' son as a baby, but were killed in a car accident and left custody of their son to Adam. Situation more complicated due to a complicated past relationship (not necessiarly sexual) with Adam.

2. Adam and Kris are actors hired on a Daytime Drama. Adam's character is considered straight, but not willing to face his true sexually. In real life Adam is gay. Kris' character is gay, but in real life Kris is straight. Adam and Kris meet and have a good time getting to know each other and giving each other advice on how to act gay/straight for their characters. Extra hours of rehearsing and playing scenes together on the show bring about an epiphany for both Adam and Kris.

3. Adam is burned out. Tired of paparazzi and notoriety. Adam finds out that he has inherited an Australian Dude Ranch and decides to take a break and take over management of the ranch. Ranch foreman Kris Allen is already an employee and has is own cabin that he shares with his wife. Fun and some hilarious times with Adam learning the so called "ropes" of ranching. Also fun with guests and their requests and desires for Adam and other employees. Also, Adam doesn't know that Kris isn't really marriage. Prior management required foreman to be married to discourage guests and foreman from comingling.

1. Five years have gone by and Kris's label has dropped him. He is out of work and has lost his apartment. He is playing at a local club in LA and Adam sees him. They have been out of touch for a long time and Kris tells Adam about the hard times he's fallen on. Adam tells Kris he can stay with him until he gets back on his feet.

2. Adam still has feelings for Kris even though it's been years since Idol. When he finds out Kris is divorced and bisexual, he wonders if it's the right time to tell Kris how he feels. The situation is further complicated when Adam meets Kris's boyfriend - a man that bears a striking resemblance to him!

He finds himself helping out the 'girls' (who are a foot taller than him, and more muscled, and stronger to boot!) by carrying their bags, finding their costumes, getting the gas, etc. The 'girls' love their little southern sidekick... although, they aren't too sure if Kris knows they're not female (he keeps opening doors!).

But when Kris starts to fall for Adam, hijinks ensue as Adam tries to be the 'girl' in the relationship...at least until everyone figures out what makes them all happy.

Brad (a performer on the brink of his next big break, fresh from a messy break-up, and wanting nothing more than a vacation from the drama of WeHo) and Kris (in a messy breakup by avoidence with his girlfriend Katy, an idealist singer/songwriter, looking for a fresh start) meet up accidentally and decide to switch lives for a while. Except Adam wants to make up with Brad, or at least be friends, and Kris is there so yeah...awkward? But Adam's cute and when Adam decides to show Kris around WeHo, and falls in love with the tiny guy from Arkansas - Kris thinks maybe the whole glitter stalker guy isn't so bad either. And Brad? Oh he's doing fine...he really likes watching Kris's neighbor Cale.

Kris thinks one night isn’t enough, but can he accept the peace he found with Adam on a permanent basis?

~Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had been in love once, but that was years ago. When they meet up again Kris is determined to maintain a distance between them; Adam is equally determined to win Kris back.

~Vampire Prince Kristopher Allen must bond with his mate or forfeit succession to the throne. When Kris meets Adam Lambert he knows immediately that he’s found his mate, but there’s just one problem: Adam’s still human. Will Kris give up Adam, or the throne?

Thank you for this! I'm happy to see an erotic prompt, but it doesn't quite fit the type of prompt we're looking for here in that it appears to be for a small scene out of a larger story, if that makes any sense. I've reworded it a bit to make it more of a 'summary blurb' that might appear on the back of a harlequin. Please let me know if this doesn't fit what you were trying to prompt, or if you'd like to make any changes to it.

Great trope! It doesn't quite fit the 'summary blurb' format that one might find on the back of a Harlequin, so I've taken the liberty of creating a blurb. Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.
