First Harlequin Kradam Fest: Prompt Submission Post

Comment here with your prompts for our first Harlequin Kradam Fest.

We will accept prompts through July 5th.

All of the prompts will be collated into a list and posted here at harlequinkradam on July 6th for claiming. Prompts will be available for claiming (and you may post your fanfic or fanart submissions) from July 6th through Sept 14th.

You may submit general prompts or more specific scenarios. You may submit blurbs off the back of Harlequin romance novels, or scenarios you’ve made up yourself, or mix ‘em up.

For example:

General Prompt: marriage of convenience

Specific Scenario: Kris is the son of a wealthy businessman who must marry by his 25th birthday or lose the inheritance he plans to use to make the world a better place; he sees Adam perform one night and is smitten; Kris makes Adam an offer he can’t refuse.

The only requirements are that the prompt be Kris/Adam and be of a Harlequin nature (which we will interpret broadly).

Here are several prompts to get us started:

Adam Lambert has been invited to his ex’s wedding. Because he refuses to let the cheating bastard think he cares, Adam replies as plus one. The only problem is that he isn’t currently seeing anyone, and there’s no way he’s showing up without a date. Kris Allen appears to be the answer to Adam’s problem, except when the time comes for their fake relationship to end, will Adam be able to let him go?

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had been in love once, but that was years ago. When they meet up again Kris is determined to maintain a distance between them; Adam is equally determined to win Kris back.

Unable to make it on his music alone, Kris Allen takes a job as a personal assistant to the flamboyant, charismatic and infuriating glamrocker Adam Lambert. Working for Adam becomes a challenge in more ways than one when Kris finds himself attracted to the other man.

Kris Allen agrees to participate in a charity bachelor auction because it’s for a good cause, but eyebrows are raised when the infamous Adam Lambert bids on him. When Adam wins the bidding, though, Kris is less concerned with his reputation and more with his virtue.

Kris is the pinnacle of goodness, social standing, and wholesomeness, who has lost his spouse to cancer at a young age. Then the wildest, most passionate flame of his youth steps into his life again. Adam Lambert is the all-time hellraiser of their small down, with three marriages behind him and a string of fast cars and fast floozies. The townsfolk say he will never change, but Kris hopes they're wrong.

Adam moves to a rough and tumble western town to start a newspaper--and find his missing sister. After discovering his sister working in the local bordello, Adam is determined to make his paper a success, beginning with a scathing critique of the sex-for-sale culture. At first, Sheriff Kris Allen doesn't want anything to do with rabble-rouser Adam, but eventually Kris begins to respect him. And then to love him. But Adam can't focus on the handsome sheriff until he saves his sister from a life of degradation.

Adam Lambert is young, wealthy, and the son of Commodore and Leila Lambert, the cream of society in 1895. While summering in their mansion on the lake, Mr. Lambert's elite yacht club loses its first round in a 3-year bet with a rival club. Angrily, Mr. Lambert describes his woes during an elaborate dinner. Kris Allen, the handsome young kitchen handyman, eavesdrops on the matter, and decides to slip the master of the house a note, letting him know that Kris could help him win the 2nd year's race. Kris, having been raised in a family of Norwegian sailors, has a plan. Defying traditional boatmaking, he is confident his new model will be faster than any other yachts. Commodore Lambert is outraged at the audacity of the "help" approaching him with the idea of a superior boat.

Adam offers his assistance by getting his father to at least hear Kris out. Mr. Lambert grudgingly accepts Kris' proposal to build a winning boat, and allows him to set up shop in a large shed behind the gardens. Adam, intrigued by Kris's good looks and good nature, begins visiting the boat shed frequently. Over the course of the summer, the two fall desperately in love, despite the clandestine meetings, the fear of wealthy eyes looking down on them, and fear of each other's intentions. Eventually, the two consummate their relationship in a heated scene in the boatshed.

Alas, autumn approaches and the family moves back to their city mansion. Whereupon the story takes a drastic turn, as scandal and secrets threaten the family's stability in high society. Adam and Kris are torn apart by overbearing and manipulative parents, and confusion between lovers. How will love overcome?

Years ago, Kris was forced to choose family duty over love, a decision that he has regretted with every fiber of his heart. He's watched Adam Lambert ascend to superstardom, happy for his former lover but wracked with the knowledge that he'd given up a place at his side. So when a chance to attend one of Adam's concerts arises, Kris accepts against his better judgment, unable to resist.

Adam has spent the years attempting - and failing - to make the same connection with someone that he'd had with Kris, still angry and hurt over Kris's abandonment. So when he glimpses the elusive Kris at one of his meet and greets one night, he attempts to approach him, only to watch as Kris flees in what seems like terror. Heartened by the sign that he might still be on Kris's mind like he is on Adam's, he sets out to find him, determined to get answers as to why Kris had left him so abruptly so many years ago. But the reasons behind Kris's abandonment turn out to be more sinister than Adam had ever imagined - and the struggle to stay together may overwhelm them both.

"Kris is a musician, who recently came out to himself. He wants to experiment with guys but is too shy (and is scared of the publicity it might bring) to go pick up guys or hook up with someone he knows. On impulse, he decides to contact an escort agency to send him someone to his house for his birthday. When he opens his door, though the guy is really hot, Kris is too nervous and embarrassed to go through with it and wants to just pay the escort and have him on his way.

What Kris doesn't know is that the guy at the door is not an escort. In fact, Adam is the new exec at Kris's label who wanted to get to know the artists he'll be working with. How far will Adam play along?

(Not gonna lie, was inspired by the back of a romance novel. But I want to see it cast with Kradam instead of 19th century British folks!)"
